A single man, residing in social housing within the Ancient Parish of Handsworth, has a history of rough sleeping and struggles with poor mental and physical health. He is currently in the process of applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and receives the standard rate of Universal Credit (UC).

With the support of his housing provider, who offers welfare advice and practical assistance, he is working towards a more stable living situation and regaining control over his life. As part of this support, the housing provider helped him apply for a grant. As a result, the man was awarded £400 by Trustees, which was used to purchase a cooker. This addition to his limited white goods enables him to cook meals, improving his ability to maintain a more balanced diet, which in turn supports his overall health and wellbeing.
This case demonstrates the positive impact of practical support and financial assistance in helping individuals transition from instability towards a more secure and healthier lifestyle.
